Privacy Policy
How Business Edge collects, uses and protects personal data.
This policy explains how Business Edge (“we”, “us”) handles personal data when you visit businessedge.news, subscribe to our newsletter or contact the newsroom. We process personal data in line with Uganda’s Data Protection and Privacy Act, 2019.
What we collect
- Newsletter: your email address, optional first name and interests, the page you signed up from and the time of sign-up.
- Contact forms and news tips: the details you type into the form and a one-way hash of your network address used for spam protection.
- Reading analytics: if enabled, article views are counted using a daily-rotating, one-way hash of network address and browser type. We do not store your IP address in our analytics and do not build profiles of individual readers.
- Optional cookies: analytics and advertising/social embeds only load after you accept them in the cookie banner.
Why we use it
To send the newsletters you asked for, respond to enquiries, protect the site from abuse, understand which stories are read, and improve the publication.
Sharing
We do not sell personal data. We share it only with service providers who help us run the site (hosting, email delivery, analytics) under contract, or where required by law.
Your rights
You can ask to access, correct or delete your personal data, or withdraw consent, at any time. Every newsletter has an unsubscribe link. For other requests use the contact page.
Retention and security
We keep newsletter data until you unsubscribe and contact messages for as long as needed to handle them. Access to our systems is restricted by role, protected by passwords and optional two-factor authentication, and activity is logged.
Changes
We will update this page when our practices change. See also our Cookie Policy.
